God's Prophetic People

who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

God’s prophetic people are those who ask the Lord for “new songs.” Each day we not only need a new, fresh Word from the Lord (Matthew 4:4), but we need a fresh song from the Lord. This will only happen when we ask Him for it. It is very important that we ask the Lord for not only our material needs, but for all our needs, including a new song. We need to ask the Lord daily for a garment of praise, and for a spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3). The new song will bring joy into our lives. Let’s all ask Him for a new song today. C. Making Singing a New Song unto the Lord a Part of Your Devotional Life My wife and I regularly sing a new song unto the Lord. I’ll get out the guitar and we will start worshiping the Lord. We will go through two or three known choruses, and then it’s time to release a prophetic or new song. This is a part of our devotional life. We read scripture, share with one another in regard to the Lord, pray, and also sing new songs unto the Lord. It is often when we sing a new song unto the Lord that breakthroughs begin to happen in our own personal lives. I believe these breakthroughs can happen in your life too, as you make singing a new song unto the Lord part of your own devotional time with God.
