God And His Word - A Question And Answer Approach To Understanding The Bible

Woman of 18 years infirmity, Luke 13:10-17. Woman with hemorrhage, Matthew 9:20-22; Mark 5:25-34; Luke 8:43-48. Man with dropsy, Luke 14:1-6. Ten lepers, Luke 17:11-19. Blind Bartimaeus, Matthew 20:29-34; Mark 10:46-52; Luke 18:35-43. Malchus’ ear, Luke 22:50-51. 5. HOW CAN JESUS' BEATING AND DEATH HEAL OUR SICKNESS AND DISEASE? Jesus Christ carried (bore) sin and the curses of sin (including sickness and disease) in His body to the cross and there destroyed the power of Satan over God's children forever. Note Isaiah 53:4, 11, 12 where "bear," "borne" and "carried" show that Jesus did more than physically suffer a terrible beating. It was that – but more! As the whip was applied to His body and the precious blood began to flow, His body was made to carry and feel the agony of all mankind's diseases. He became my substitute for my sickness and my sin. 6. CAN EVERYONE BE HEALED? Yes. If Christ has borne our sickness and redeemed us from the curse, why should we bear it? 1 Peter 2:24; Acts 10:34; Matthew 8:2, 3. 7. WHY, THEN, IS THERE STILL SICKNESS AND DISEASE IN THE WORLD? There is sickness and disease in the world today for the same reason that there is sin in the world today - people do not know what Jesus Christ has purchased for them. There is forgiveness and deliverance from ALL the power of Satan if we will but receive it, ask for it and partake of it. Redemption is a powerful reality, but to many it is only theory, doctrine or religious formality. Satan has taken advantage of men's ignorance to keep them from the blessing. Hosea 4:6; James 4:2. 8. WHAT IS THAT KNOWLEDGE THAT BRINGS HEALING TO US? We must know that our bodies have been redeemed from the CURSE of the law for Christ was made a curse for us and has freed us from the power of the devil. Galatians 3:13; 1 Corinthians 6:20. 9. WHAT WAS THE CURSE OF THE LAW? Physical sickness was a portion of the curse of the law that came upon people because of their disobedience to God's law. Deuteronomy 28:59
