18. WHY DOES THIS COMMANDMENT TEACH US TO BE PURE AND MODEST IN BODY? Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we should therefore respect them, modestly clothe them, and carefully tend them as befitting the habitation of the true and living God. Romans 12:1; 1 Corinthians 3:16. 19. HERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT WILL ENDANGER OUR CHASTITY: Idleness, bad companions, drinking, immodest dress, impure conversations, dirty jokes, looking at bad pictures, indecent books and films, and touching one's own body or that of another without necessity simply to satisfy sinful curiosity. 20. WHAT MUST WE DO TO LEAD A CHASTE AND DECENT LIFE? In the fear of God we must: A. FIGHT TO OVERCOME all impure thoughts and desires through God’s Word and prayer, work and temperance. NOTE: God does forbid a Christian to marry an unbeliever. 2 Corinthians 6:14. The above question and answer is not concerned with REmarriage. 22. WHAT IS ADULTERY ACCORDING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT? This may seem strange, but the teaching of Jesus on the subject is both more merciful and yet more severe than anything under the Law. Its severity… 1 Corinthians 6: 18 - "Flee fornication." 2 Timothy 2:22 - "Flee also youthful lusts." 1 Corinthians 6:19 - "Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost."
