of equality and of providing for the wellbeing of the workers of the state. In reality, a few at the top live in luxury and power, fueled by the blood, sweat, and tears of the masses. The common people are not even allowed to think for themselves, much less contribute to the needs of the state with inventive and creative ideas. It is forbidden. The only options are slavery to the system or prison or death. Those who report free thinkers are rewarded and this was even at work in families. There was fear and mistrust everywhere. I learned these things very quickly from those who possessed an inner light in this dark place. They were the treasures in darkness. Days and weeks sped by in a blur of covert activity right un der the eyes of the guards. The fear of discovery was no longer a conscious, dominant presence. No one was acting foolishly in reli gious pride that could be deadly; but neither was fear any longer a consideration. There was only an amazingly deep brokenness, godly sorrow for sin, and confidence in God and His nature among us all. His glory and charisma were evident everywhere in the prison, and everybody realized something was different. The conviction of dark ness was growing stronger and stronger. The number o f ministry opportunities increased as more and more men were being brought to me and to our occasional gather ings where God's presence was evident. In almost every small circle that was allowed in the yard and in the barracks you could hear God talk. Men expressed a hunger for changed hearts and shared testi monies of God's miraculous help in their situations. All of the eight were sharing Jesus constantly everywhere they were allowed or com manded to go during their work assignments, hard labor, and other activities. We were subtle and guarded and yet we were able to be 54 Revival in the Face of Death
