His Greatest Moment W hen Jesus taught us to pray, “and lead us not into temptation,” l He shared a tremendous insight that was based not only on prophetic revelation, but also the practical out-working of the con- cept in everyday life situations. Jesus, of course, was not teaching us to pray for or expect a life free from tempta- tion or trial; He knew that these things, when properly handled, only sharpen our faith. The word “temptation” not only refers to moral enticement, but it can mean “trial” or “test” in the context of suffering, persecution, or martyrdom. These things come, but by praying daily for the strength to resist being overwhelmed by such temptation, the Christian fortifies himself and assures future victories. Personally, praying this thought daily has had a profound effect in my life. Truly, God seems to honor our intentions 159
