Individual Delivering a Prophetic Word

Anyone desiring to bring a prophetic word, prophecy, interpretation of tongues, a word of knowledge or word of wisdom should fi rst be informed of the rules of the meeting or rules of the house before doing so. Any word should be delivered with humility and grace. Our soul is the clearinghouse for prophecy and our souls are impure. 1 Corinthians 14:32 says the spirit of the prophets is subject to the prophets. Anything received from heaven comes to the spirit within us, but then has to go through our soul, our minds being in this category, before being released. This is why it is so important to control our souls by renewing our minds and leading every thought captive to Christ. Learn to hear His voice. His voice always brings redemption. The accuser brings condemnation. Often a word carries both because we have this treasure in earthen vessels. One must guard against preaching or releasing a personal agenda in the place of a prophetic word. Without consistency and discipline there will be no dependability or reliability in the words being given. Those who say, "Thus says the Lord" when He did not are undisciplined at best. The phrase "the Lord told me" is over used by those who are young in the prophetic. Try to avoid these statements when possible and allow the word to stand upon its own merit. Keep in mind timing and audience. A true word can become a false word by being given at the wrong time or by being given to the wrong person / people. To administer a sure word of prophecy say only what the Father has given. Protect yourself and others from control and witchcraft. Witchcraft is soulish manipulation by words or actions. All prophecy must be judged. The fi rst place where we need to judge prophecy is within our own heart and spirit. Is there a big check within us or is there a “green light.” A check in your spirit may feel similar to a knot in the stomach, but it is not physical. We could have peace within ourselves even if we do not understand a word. Or we could have a check, even if the word appears to make perfect sense to us. We need to be able to listen to our heart accurately because the Spirit of God dwells there. Any prophecy or prophetic word has three parts to it. The fi rst part is the prophecy, revelation, dream, or vision itself. The second is the interpretation, answering the question, "What does the revelation mean?"
