"You will hear a message [word] from My mouth, and give them warning from Me." Ezekiel 33: 7

THE PROPHETS SEEMED to have a special awareness of God, famil iarity with His ways and perception of His will. This prophetic con sciousness is our focus in this chapter. 1 Our discussion will revolve around four important questions:

• How was a person called to be a prophet? • How did he or she prophesy? • Were the prophets ecstatics? • How were the Scriptures "inspired"?

The sacred nature of our subject cautions against any hasty or absolute conclusions. At the same time, the Scripture does discuss prophecy in a way that encourages our interest and even participation.
