Your Sons & Daughters Shall Prophesy - Prophetic Gifts Today In The New Testament Church

The Use of Prophecy in Church Today

Herron, one of the other prophets, jumped up, saying, "And the first flag is Ecuador!" Neither of us knew of the church's plans and desires to enlarge their missions efforts-especially that they had just committed to support a couple in Ecuador. The first support pledge had been sent just one month before our meeting, but only the elders and staff at that point knew about the arrangement. This really encouraged the faith of the people! The pas tor later said that the prophecies were one hundred percent accurate and a flag of Ecuador now hangs in the church sanctuary.

Recording the Messages

After presbytery meetings are over, the recorded messages should be typed out by either the candidate or the church secretary and then reviewed with pastoral leadership. If the candidate transcribes and types the mes sage out, the mental concentration will greatly enhance the process of recalling important information.

Scriptural Background, Old Testament

The following five examples from the Old Testament establish a prin ciple and precedent for prophetic direction and confirmation:

1. Jacob and his children (Genesis 48:13-22; 49:1-28). The old man laid his hands on them and gave prophetic guidance concerning their futures. 2. Moses' ordination ofJoshua (Deuteronomy 34:9). Joshua received wisdom by impartation through Moses' hands. 3. Elisha and the king's bow (2 Kings 13:14-19). Elisha placed his hands on the king's arms and prophesied about the future of his people. 4. Isaiah and Hezekiah (Isaiah 38:1-8). The prophet brought God's direction to the king. 5. Haggai and Zechariah (Ezra 5:1-2; 6:14). This dynamic prophetic team enabled the people to build God's house because of their prophesying.
