Your Sons & Daughters Shall Prophesy - Prophetic Gifts Today In The New Testament Church
The Latter Rain Movement
• The premillennial return of Jesus Christ is imminent and will be pre ceded by an outpouring of God's Spirit. • God is restoring the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our day, which can be experienced through the laying on of hands by the presbytery. • A worldwide missionary vision is essential to the Church. • Spiritual worship is of utmost importance and the atmosphere most conducive to prophetic manifestations. As news got out about the happenings at North Battleford, people from all over North America and many parts of the world flocked to the camp meeting conventions at Sharon that had been publicized by The Sharon Star. 15 Soon the leaders at North Battleford were receiving invitations to minister in many places in North America. Pastor Reg Layzell invited the Hawtin brothers to come to Glad Tid ings Temple in Vancouver, B.C., for fourteen days in November 1948. Shortly thereafter he wrote: It is nearly two months since they left us and the revival continues.Hal lelujah! It is a wonderful thing when the revival partly leaves the revival with you when they go.... I have seen more souls saved in the last two months than I saw in two years of ordinary church life while in Toronto.... People were healed! There were many outstanding healings and thanks be to God they are lasting healings. Saints were baptised in the Holy Ghost as hands were laid on them and they were prayed for.Great liberty in the Spirit was among the people and the singing in the Spirit was and is heavenly.... 16 Mrs. Myrtle D. Beall, pastor of Bethesda Missionary Temple, an Assem blies of God church in Detroit, Michigan, was one of those present in the Vancouver meetings. Deeply impressed by what she saw and experienced, she returned to Detroit to lead her church forward in this visitation of the Spirit. The newly completed, large sanctuary in Detroit was dedicated on February 13, 1949, filled to overflowing with people and the blessings of God. 17 Hungry people from all over the world flocked to the church. Ivan Q. Spencer, founder of Elim Bible Institute in New York State, was one who came and was greatly influenced. Both Bethesda and Elim became centers for the LRM in the United States. 18 Stanley Frodsham, a leader in the Assemblies of God and editor of The Pentecostal Evangel, accepted Pastor Beall's invitation to come and see what was happening. He was deeply moved by what he saw, and his expe rience helped precipitate a great controversy in the Assemblies of God over the LRM. 19 293.
