When Bishops Replace Prophets

blessing of God) begin to prosper and forget their roots. It is a time of accom modation, a period of establishing harmonious relationships. If the church has spiritual manifestations, these are relegated to special, out-of-the-way times and places. The ministry depends more on academic training than on spiritual gifts and prayer. The prophetic voice is silenced by neglect. 4. A Spiritless monument. Finally the church stands as a mute monu ment to that which once was but no longer is. People do not know God as they did in the beginning. Missionary zeal is gone. If the Holy Spirit removed Himself from the property, the organization would carry on its program and none would recognize any difference.
