Your Sons & Daughters Shall Prophesy - Prophetic Gifts Today In The New Testament Church
The Transition from Old to New
• Intercession. He was man of prayer (Matthew 14:23; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16; 6:12; 9:28). • Miracles and healing. Seventeen bodily cures, nine miracles over the forces of nature, six demonic deliverances and three raised from the dead (as recorded). 16 • Visions. Jesus saw the fall of Satan (Luke 10:18). • Outward features. He made authoritative statements ("I say to you") and performed symbolic actions-for example, conducting the Last Supper, cursing the fig tree and entering Jerusalem. (Note the chart below.) • Teaching. His teaching was prophetic in form and content (He spoke in parables, short sayings, poetic form) and brought a prophetic mes sage to His nation. • Insight and emphases. He displayed discernment of human charac ter, prophetic insight into contemporary political, social and inter national conditions and made predictions.17 • Fate. Jesus fulfilled the prophet's role of rejection, persecution and martyrdom.
