Your Sons & Daughters Shall Prophesy - Prophetic Gifts Today In The New Testament Church
A Profile of the Ancient Hebrew Prophet
So Dad, a minister, decided to go, taking Mom and me along with him and including a pastor friend from a neighboring town. Dad had reached out to Mike Basher in a variety of ways. Our family had been to his church many times. Dad had often preached in his church, and our family, which had traveled with Dad as part of a ministry team, would sing there, too. We were very familiar with Pastor Basher's ministry and the pastoral strug gles he was facing in the southern Idaho area. The prophetic gathering was being held in an old theater building that Bible Temple had converted into a church. We entered the service late, hav ing driven hundreds of miles. We sat in the back on the right-hand side, probably on the third row from the back. As the meeting progressed, we listened to the prophetic ministry over different people, most of whom were candidates who had been in fasting and prayer and were brought forward one at a time. Toward the end of the service Brother Ernest Gentile, one of the prophets, looked toward the back of the auditorium and stopped the meeting. He said he would like to minister prophetically over someone in the congregation, indicating Mike Basher, the pastor who had come with us from Idaho. Although Mike was a little apprehensive, my father encouraged him to go forward. As Brother Gentile ministered over him prophetically, I was reallyimpressed.I had never experienced anything quite like this. The accu racy and the prophetic gift of God that was unfolded that night amazed me, particularly since I knew so much of the history and current situation Mike Basher was facing in his church. Brother Basher was told that he was a pastor from out of state from somewhere far away and that he had come to check these prophetic meet ings out, which of course was true. Gentile said he saw Basher with a book opened in his hand. He was standing on a foundation, a place where a build ing was to be built. It was a church foundation, and he was looking at the blueprints (the book in his hand) and was frustrated. He had fabricated the walls. A prefab wall lay on the foundation but needed to be stood up and connected with the other adjacent walls. In the prophetic picture Brother Gentile observed Mike and heard him saying, "I don't understand why it's not working. I have the blueprints. I've done what it says here, and it's still not working." He would put the book down and then lean a wall up, bal ancing it carefully. Then he would look back at the book he was using as a reference, go to another wall and begin to try to tip that wall up. As he tipped up the second wall, the first would fall over and knock him down, and he would get up, dirty and frustrated, and look once again at the blue prints. Brother Gentile shared the meaning of the vision with Pastor Basher, a message of the Lord to clarify the vision. Mike wasn't necessarily doing anything wrong. It wasn't a problem with the blueprints, but it was God's wisdom and will for him to work in another setting where he could have some on-the-job training and watch someone else assemble a building-in reference, of course, to building a local church. It was very encouraging ■ 108
