EXODUS “MINI” SERIES The Doctrine of Man

III. The Fall of Man

Lesson #3 . The fall of man due to sin (Gen 3:1-19) Man was designed by God to be composed of three parts: body , soul , and spirit . However, because of sin, both the spirit in man (Eph 2:1,5 and Colo 2:13) and the body of man (Gen 2:17) die and need to be recreated and resurrected via the new birth (i.e., the Word of God - I Pet 1:23). The doctrine of the new birth is as old as the Garden of Eden ( Jn 3:7,10 ). According to Job 14:14-15, the body is the work of God’s hands. Although the image of God does not include the body , still, according to Psalms 139:14, God created our bodies to be in union with our soul so that both body and soul were destined to immortality. Had Adam and Eve not sinned, the body and soul would have lived in perfect union the way God initially designed it for all eternity. Because God recognizes the dignity of the body and its true relation to the soul , there must be a resurrection. According to Daniel 12:2 and Acts 24:14,15, there will be two resurrections:

1. One for the just (saved) (Rev 4:2 & 20:4) 2. One for the unjust (lost) (Rev 20:11-15)
