more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, 1 but by his own blood 2 he entered in once 3 into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, 4 and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of CHRIST , who through the ETERNAL SPIRIT 5 offered himself without spot to GOD , purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this cause he is the 6 MEDIATOR of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 7 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. 18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, 8 he took the blood of calves and of goats, 9 with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, 20 Saying, 10 This is the blood of the test- ament which God hath enjoined unto you. 21 11 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And 12 almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no 13 remission. 23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, 14 now to appear in the presence of God for us: 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath 15 he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. The promise of a JUDGMENT DAY to come (Fulfilled - Rev 20:11-15) 27 16 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the 17 JUDGMENT : P The promise of CHRIST’S Second Coming (Fulfilled - Rev 19:11-21) 28 15 So Christ was once offered 18 to bear the sins 19 of many; and unto them that look for him 20 shall HE appear the second time without sin unto salvation. P Hebrews 10 The keeping of the Law (Old Covenant) 1 For the law having a 21 shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto 22 perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. 4 For 23 it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. 5 Wherefore when 24 HE cometh into the world, he saith, 25 Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a 26 body hast thou prepared me: 6 25 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. failed to save anyone Date Written - c. 9:14 a If God accepted the former rite as a purifying of the flesh, howmuch more will He be satisfied with the sacrifice of CHRIST . 9:14 b Just as the FATHER is eternal (Isa 63:16) and the SON is eternal (I Tim 1:17 and Heb 7:16), so the HOLY SPIRIT is eternal, and every bit a part of the Triune Godhead ( Gen 1:1b,26 a , Deut 6:4 , Rom 1:20 a and Acts 5:4 ). 9:14 c The death of an innocent animal (Gen 4:1-7 and Heb 10:1-10) could never permanently erase the guilt ( purge your conscience ) associated with sin; it merely atoned for, or covered over the sin. The guilt associated with sin could only be purged by the finished work of CHRIST . 9:15 a CHRIST is the “ MEDIATOR .” His sacrifice is the only sacrifice that saves. 9:15 b Salvation is a “calling” ( they which are called ), an election based on the foreknowledge of God ( I Pet 1:2 a and I Thes 1:4 ). 9:27 God allows death to occur for one of three reasons: (1) It’s appointed (its time– Heb 9:27 and Eccl 12:7); (2) Its to awaits our arrival (Psa 116:15); and (3) It’s to get our attention (Eccl 7:1-2).
