EPHESIANS 6:11 - 6:24
11 Put on the whole 1 armour of God, that ye may be able to 2 stand against the 3 wiles of the devil. 12 4 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the 5 darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 6 Wherefore take unto you the whole 7 armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Loins (Let the truth possess you); Breastplate (Live the truth by faith and love) 14 Stand therefore, having your 8 loins girt about with truth, and having on the 9 breastplate of righteousness; Feet (Spread the truth through your witness for CHRIST ) 15 And your 10 feet shod with the 11 preparation of the 12 gospel of peace; Shield (Obey the truth) 16 Above all, taking the 13 shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the 14 wicked. Helmet (Know the truth; know you are saved!); Sword (Use the truth properly; compare scripture with scripture - I Cor 2:13) 17 And take the 15 helmet of salvation, and the 16 sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Don’t forget to pray 18 17 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and 18 watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, 19 that I may open my mouth
boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador 20 in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, 21 Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: 22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts. 23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

6:11 The armour of God consists of three offensive parts ( loins , feet , and sword ) and three defensive parts ( breastplate , shield , and helmet ). Interestingly enough, there is no armor for the backside. Christians are never to retreat, but to stand their ground viathe Word of God ( Mt 4:4 a ). NOTE – In order to “wear” the armor of God so that it can actually protect you, one must understand how each piece is to be applied. For example: * In order to apply the belt ( your loins girt about with truth ), we must allow the truth to “possess” us * In order to apply the shoes ( your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace ), we must be willing to become a “witness” for Christ ( Mt 16: 13- 18e ) * In order to apply the sword ( And take…the sword of the Spirit ), we must become a “student” of Scripture (Mt 4:4) * In order to apply the breastplate ( having on the breastplate of righteousness ), we must “want” what’s right ( Acts 10:35 ) * In order to apply the shield ( taking the shield of faith ), we must give God the “last say” in our life ( Heb 11:1 ) * In order to apply the helmet ( And take the helmet of salvation ), we must be “assured” of our own salvation (I Thess 5:8) 6:12 THE ADAGE IS TRUE: The battle we face ( for we wrestle ) may not always be the same thing, but it will always be something 6:14 Our strength to stand and finish our race for God comes from the truth that possesses us, not the truth that we possess (Neh 8:10,17). 6:15 In order to protect oneself from the cunning devices of the Devil, the Christian must learn to “shod his feet” with the preparation of the Gospel of peace. Meaning: He must learn to attack Satan’s domain (Mt 16:18), which is the world, with the
