EPHESIANS 5:21 - 6:10
unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Living your life for others 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22 1 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 2 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: 3 and HE is the SAVIOUR of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 4 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and 5 gave himself for it; 26 That he might 6 sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water 7 by the word, 27 8 That he might 9 present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 10 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself;
11 and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Ephesians 6 Obey your authorities Date Written - c. AD 62 1 12 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 13 Honor thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 14 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4 15 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the 16 nurture and 17 admonition of the Lord. 5 18 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7 With good will doing service, 19 as to the Lord, and not to men: The promise of rewards to all who are found faithful when CHRIST returns (Fulfilled - Rev 4:2) 8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the 20 LORD , whether he be bond or free. P 9 And, ye 21 masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there 22 respect of persons with him. The Christian’s armour against spiritual wickedness: 10 Finally, my brethren, 23 be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

5:25,28,33 This word ( love ) is the Greek word DJDSK ( agape ) and means “ to love unconditionally; to love the way God loves ” (Jn 3:16 and II Jn 1:6 ). This word is to be distinguished from the Greek word MLOHZ ( phileo ), which means “ to love conditionally; to love based upon how one feels ” ( Titus 2:4 ). NOTE - Whereas wives are commanded to love their husbands “conditionally” (by how they feel) husbands are commanded to love their wives “unconditionally” (whether they feel like it or not). 5:27 To lead a wife biblically (the way Jesus tries to lead His bride, the Church) is beneficial to both the husband and the wife ( That he might present it to himself a glorious church ). THE ADAGE IS TRUE: When husbands lead, wives succeed 6:4 a According to the Bible, it has always been the father’s duty to rear the children spiritually (Gen 18:19, Deut 6:1-9 & 8:5, Josh 24:15, I Sam 3:12-13, I Ki 1:5-6, Job 1:5, Prov 2:1 & 3:1,11-12, Isa 38:19 and Heb 12:9). 6:4 b We are to educate our children ( bring them up ) in the same manner as God attempts to educate His children ( II Chro 33:10 - 13) – the rod (nurture) and reproof (admonition) (Prov 29:15).
