dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7 For a man indeed ought not to 13 cover his head, forasmuch as he is the 14 image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8 For the man is not of the woman; 15 but the woman of the man. 9 Neither was the man created for the woman; 16 but the woman for the man. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. 11 17 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. 13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? 14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16 But if any man seem to be conten- tious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. The LORD’S supper is but an illustration (symbol) of CHRIST’S death 17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be 18 divi- sions among you; and I partly believe it. 19 For there must be also 19 heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. 20 When ye come together therefore

25 Whatsoever is sold in the 1 shambles, that eat, 2 asking no question for con- science sake: 26 For 3 the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof. 27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; 4 whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. 28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not 5 for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: 3 for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof: 29 6 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience? 30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? 31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 32 7 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: 33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. I Corinthians 11 Differences between men and women Date Written - Spring of AD 57 1 Be ye followers of me, 8 even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the 9 ordinances, as I delivered them to you. 3 But I would have you know, that 10 the head of every man is Christ; and the 11 head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head 12 uncovered

10:27-28 What Paul was saying was: Eat whatever is offered ( eat ), unless anyone present objects ( eat not ). 11:1 What Paul was saying was: Follow me if you already know what it means to follow Christ. In other words, you should know how to follow Jesus “before” you follow someone who says they are following Jesus. 11:10 According to I Peter 1:12 , angels (God’s first creation) are watching Christians. Why? Because the angels that didn’t rebel against God’s authority are going to minister to Christians for all eternity (Heb 1:14), and if a Christian can’t submit to God now, why should angels submit to Christians later? 11:17 Sadly, the LORD’S Supper, which was supposed to memorialize CHRIST’S sacrifice for sinners, had become a social occasion instead of a serious one. It had become an event exposing one’s differences in the church instead of expressing one’s appreciation for what Christ did on the cross (vs 18-19); it had become a time of partying instead of a time of preparation and prayer (vs 20-22).
