* Why are people going to seek the promised MESSIAH ? (Jn 3:1-3 and 6:1-2,26-27) * Do you think being the people of God is the same thing as being the children of God? (Mt 3:9) * Are you looking for the same thing your father Abraham looked for (Jn 8:53-59)? Questions UIFZ NBZ have asked +FTVT...

You can pretty much imagine the questions Jesus might have asked them, but can you imagine the series of questions these religious leaders must have asked Him? I can imagine that their questioning of this 12 year old child went something like this: Question #1 : “Boy, what is your name?” To which Jesus would have replied: “On my mother’s side or my FATHER’S … On my mother’s side they call me Jesus; they even call me ‘son’ (with a little ‘s’), but on my FATHER’S side they call me Emmanuel (Isa 7:14/Mt 1:23); the Son of God (with a big ‘S’). Why they even call me Wonderful (Jud 13:18), Counsellor, The mighty God (Titus 2:13 and Rev 1:8), The everlasting Father (Jn 14:6-11 & 10:30-33), The Prince of Peace (Isa 9:6, Dan 8:25, II Thess 3:16 and Rev 1:5 & 19:16 & Eph 2:13-18).” Question #2 : “Boy, where are you from?” To which Jesus would have replied: “On my mother’s side or my FATHER’S … On my mother’s side I am from Bethlehem, but on my FATHER’S side I just AM. Remember what I told Moses ( Exo 3:1-6,14)? I told him to tell the Jews in Egypt that I AM that I AM has sent you; and if they’re looking for an address of the person sending you, tell them to just look up because someone from eternity has sent you.” Question #3 : “Boy, how old are you?” To which Jesus would have replied: “On my mother’s side or my FATHER’S … On my mother’s side I am twelve, but on my FATHER’S side, well, if my address is eternity, then I’m pretty much eternal (Mic 5:2). You see, on my mother’s side I am a boy. That’s why you’re addressing me as such. But on my FATHER’S side I’ve always been.” Question #4 : “Boy, why are you here?” To which Jesus would have replied: “On my mother’s side or my FATHER’S … On my mother’s side I’m here observing Jewish Law; I’m here because all male Jews are required to go up to Jerusalem three times a year, but on my FATHER’S side I’m here to save the world (Isa 53:10-11/Luke 19:10/Jn 3:16). Question #5 : “Boy, where are you going after this?” To which Jesus would have replied: “On my mother’s side or my FATHER’S … On my mother’s side I’m going back down to Nazareth where I’m from (physically speaking), but on my FATHER’S side I’m going back up (Jn 8:23 & 14:1-3) where I’m from (spiritually speaking). Question #6 : “Boy, how are you getting to where are you going?” To which Jesus would have replied: “On my mother’s side or my FATHER’S … On my mother’s side my step father is coming to get me as we speak. But on my FATHER’S side, well, He’s coming to get me as soon as I’m done on Calvary (Dan 9:26 and Isa 53:6-8). Question #7: “Boy, what do you mean by Calvary?” To which Jesus would have replied: “On my mother’s side or my FATHER’S … On my mother’s side, one day, I’ll be crucified. I will die physically, but on my FATHER’S side, in three days, I’ll rise again (Isa 55:3/Acts 13:34). I will offer all who want it –everlasting life. NOTE – Jesus’ whole goal in life was to get to Calvary (Lk 9:51-53); to seek and to save that which was lost (Lk 19:10). Seeing CHRIST was determined to get to the cross, shouldn’t we be determined to preach it! 2:48 Although both Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 1:26-38 state emphatically that CHRIST was conceived by the HOLY GHOST , this statement “ thy father ” has created some uncertainty about the role of Joseph in Jesus’ life. Both skeptics and infidels have used this verse plus three others (Mt 13:55 and Jn 1:45 & 6:42) to attack the credibility of the Scriptures and to prove that the Bible contradicts itself, rendering it fallible. NOTE - First of all , it needs to be noted how much time and effort both skeptics and infidels put into fighting something they say isn’t true. If something isn’t true, why waste precious time fighting it? If history proves anything, it proves there will always be people of faith and people of no faith. Secondly , to agree with the notion that Joseph sired Jesus is to side with the self-righteous Pharisees (Mt 13:53-58) instead of the Scriptures, which insistently state that Christ was conceived miraculously via the virgin birth (Gen 3:15, Isa 7:14, Jere 31:22, Mic 5:3, Mt 1:16,18,23, Lk 3: 23, 38 and Gal 4:4). Thirdly , these verses do not contradict themselves. Joseph was Jesus’ earthly father, as stated by Mary here in verse 48. Many children have earthly fathers who are not their “biological” fathers. Luke 3:23 points out that fact. It says, “ And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being ( as was supposed ) the son of Joseph …” Lastly , according to I Corinthians 2:9-11, until a person trusts the Word of God over his own word (that’s what faith is - Heb 11:1 ), he can never understand spiritual truths. 2:49 This is the first time CHRIST ever referred to the FIRST PERSON of the Triune Godhead as “Father.” Until Jesus became flesh (He was in spirit-form for all eternity past), He was always equal with the FATHER (Phil 2:5-8), never subject to Him. 2:51 Only one CHILD ever had the right to tell his parents what to do, and yet, He forfeited that right in order to become subject unto them . 2:52 This phrase ( favor with God and man ) is the result of binding mercy and truth about one’s neck (Prov 3:3-4). 3:1 Tiberus Caesar ruled Rome from AD 14-37. 3:3 To preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins was the same as preaching the “Gospel of CHRIST .” Baptism was simply an illustration of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. 3:7 John the Baptist, one of the greatest nonconformists of all time, wanted every Jew present to know how he felt about the chains which traditionalists had forged upon the hearts and souls of God’s people. He said, “ O generation of vipers .” He called those who supported traditionalism “snakes.”
