his handmaiden: for, behold, from hence- forth all generations shall call me 2 blessed. 49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. 50 And his 6 mercy is on them that 7 fear him from generation to generation. 51 He hath shewed strength with his 8 arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. 54 He hath 9 holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; 55 10 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his 11 SEED for ever. And they marvelled all.

Mary travels to Ain Karem Map #1 40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. 41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42 And she 1 spake out with a loud voice, and said, 2 Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. 45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. 46 And Mary said, 3 My soul doth 4 magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in 5 God my Saviour. 48 For he hath regarded the low estate of

1:41 John leaped within Elizabeth because the Eternal SPIRIT within him (vs 15) got excited that the Eternal CHRIST was near. The SPIRIT noted, “If Mary is here, then JESUS is here!” As believers, we need to get excited about the things that excite the SPIRIT . Learn to get excited about the things that excite Him and He will become active in your life. Question is: What excites the SPIRIT? What motivates Him to become active in our life? In order to identify those things that excite Him, we need to first understand His seven-fold work ( I Cor 12:11b ). 1:55 The great covenant promise concerning redemption was made in its most explicit manner to Abraham. You can find it prior to that in Genesis 3:15,21 & 4:1-4 & 8:20-21, but the definition of it, as it were, the explicit statement of it, is made to Abraham when he is told that in him, in his seed (Gal 3:16), shall all the world be blessed (Gen 12:3). That is what Mary is referring to when she says: “He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy to Abraham, and to his SEED for ever.” Martyn Lloyd-Jones in My Soul Magnifies the Lord: Meditations on the Meaning of Christmas notes: She says in effect, “When I give birth to the Son, I am giving birth to the Savior, the one prophesied, predicted, promised. He is coming. All that was promised to Abraham, all this great mercy, here it is, literally coming into being and into action.” 1 1 Lloyd-Jones, Martyn.
