11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. 12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, 1 she did it for my burial. P 13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever 2 this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her . Judas agrees to betray CHRIST (S/A - Mk 14:10,11 & Lk 22:3-6) 14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, 3 and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. PF 16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him. CHRIST prepares for the Passover (S/A - Mk 14:12-17 & Lk 22:7-16) Date - Thurs, Apr, AD 32 17 Now the 4 first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the 5 PASSOVER ? 18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples . 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover. 20 Now when the even was come, he sat

26:11 According to God, there will always be an opportunity to help the poor , for the poor are everywhere. However, GOD IN FLESH (the one who was rich, yet became poor, that we through his poverty might be made rich – II Cor 8:9), is only going to be here for a while. Moses said in Deuteronomy 15:11, “For the poor shall never cease out of the land.” There are five reasons why the poor will be among us… always: 1. We live in a fallen world where life can change in an instant ( Lev 25:35 -41 and Deut 15:1-9) 2. God wants to bless those of us who help the poor like He does ( Deut 15:10 ) 3. God wants us to remember how poor we were before He came and delivered us ( Deut 15 :11- 15 and I Ki 21:29 ) 4. God wants us to rethink our view of poverty (Mt 4:18-19 & 11:2-5 and II Cor 8:9 & 6:10) 5. God wants to remind us what laziness can look like (Prov 6:4-11 & 13:4 & 20:4 and II Thess 3:10) 26:13 Jesus reminds us here to remember ( memorial ) certain people that have gone on before us and why it is that we are to remember them. According to the Scriptures, not everyone is going to be remembered (Prov 10:7), not even the ‘works’ of some believers (Ezk 3:20). According to Genesis 8:1 & 19:29 & 30:22, it’s good to be remembered. However, it’s only good to be remembered if the one remembering you is God. Man can remember man; he can even entomb man’s memory (Napoleon, who died in 1821, is entombed in Paris), but when history ends, so does the memory of man (Isa 65:17). There is only one biblical reason why certain believers are going to be remembered –they had a love for God’s Word ( she did it for my burial – vs 12). They loved it more than they loved people (Heb 11:5); they loved it more than where they lived (Heb 11:8-10); they loved it more than how they felt ( Heb 11:11 ); they loved it more than life itself (Heb 11:35-39). Only believers who ‘love the Word’ get memorialized. NOTE – In Mary’s case here, she loved the “burial part” of the Gospel ( I Cor 15:1 ) so much that she anointed her Saviors head with costly perfume. What she meant by her action was: It sure does “smell” good to finally pay for sin. 26:15 Called a “Telradrachma,” this “piece of silver” was a coin worth about $1.76. 26:27 Both the bread and the cup would picture CHRIST’S sinlessness; for there was no corruption within His body or His blood (Jn 1:47, II Cor 5:21 and Heb 4:15). This is why the bread was to be unleavened (Why? Because leaven contains bacteria, which leads to corruption) and the wine unfermented (Why? Because fermentation contains bacteria, which leads to corruption).
