The Strand Study Bible

MALACHI MALACHI ends 3½ years later with the personal return of CHRIST ( I Thess 5:2 and Rev 3:3 b & 6:5,6-8 a ). According to Daniel 12:1, the last half of Daniel’s Seventieth Week will be like no other this world has ever experienced. That “ DAY ” (and/or “ HOUR ” - Rev 3:3,10 and Mt 24:42-43) will begin when the Antichrist sets himself up as God in Jerusalem (Dan 9:27 & 12:11, Rev 13:5-8 and II Thess 2:3-4). It will encompass 3½ years (Dan 7:25 & 12:7,11, Lk 21:24 and Rev 11:2 & 12:6,14 & 13:5) of the darkest (I Thess 5:2,4 and Isa 13:9-10), most wrathful (I Thess 5:9, Isa 24:1-14,17-20 & 26:20, Zeph 3:8 and Rev 12:12), and destructive time this earth has ever known (I Thess 5:3, Jere 30:5-8, Isa 66:7-8, Dan 12:1 and Mt 24:12-24,26,29,33-34). NOTE – It is to be noted that there is a gargantuan difference between God’s wrath ( GREAT TRIBULATION ) and man’s wrath (tribulation). Since the dawn of time (6,000 years ago – Gen 1:1b ), man’s wrath (Jn 16:33, Acts 14:22, Rom 8:35, I Thess 3:4 and Rev 2:9), has accounted for the death of approximately 200 million people. God’s WRATH , on the other hand, will account for the death of half the world’s population, when it occurs. Which means: If the Great Tribulation were to happen today (the world’s population bulging at seven billion people) 3½ billion people would die in just 3½ years. No wonder Jeremiah compared the DAY OF THE LORD (called the TIME OF JACOB’S TROUBLE - Jere 30:7, the Great Tribulation - Mt 24:21 and Rev 7:14 & 12:12, and the day of God’s Wrath - I Thess 5:2,9) to that of a man having a baby (Jere 30:5-8). Ouch! 1451
