MICAH 4:5

of a Israel, that abhor judgment, and per- vert all equity. 10 They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. 11 7 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. 12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be 8 plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest. P READ NEXT - II Kings 18:1-8 Micah 4 The promise of a Kingdom where 1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the 9 MOUNTAIN OF THE HOUSE OF THE LORD 10 shall be estab- lished in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and peo- ple shall flow unto it. P 2 10 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the 9 MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD , and to the house of the God of Jacob; 11 and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. P 3 And 10 HE shall judge among many people, 12 and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into prun- inghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. P 4 10 But they shall sit every man 13 under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the 2 LORD OF HOSTS hath spoken it. P 5 14 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, 15 and we will walk 10 in the name of the 16 LORD our 17 GOD for ever and ever. Historical Note - Assyrian history continued c. 745 BC with the New Kingdom Period in which Tiglath- Pileser III (c. 745-727 BC) assumed Assyria’s throne. Tiglath-Pileser III was not of royal origin. Nevertheless, his military genius made Assyria a world power - bind- ing province to province, and transforming local centers into general centers, by deportation and colonization. Tiglath-Pileser III brought back the Assyria empire to its glory. He was known as Pul in the Bible (II Ki 15:19) READ NEXT - II Kings 16:1-4 Micah 3 Fallen leadership (Note - This portion of Micah’s prophecy took place in the 1st year of King Hezekiah’s reign and 1 And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment? 2 Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; 3 Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron. 4 Then shall they cry unto the LORD, 1 but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings. 5 Thus saith the 2 LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that 3 bite with their teeth, and cry, 4 Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him. 6 Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; 5 and the sun shall go down over the proph- ets, and the day shall be dark over them. 7 Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God. 8 But truly I am full of power by the SPIRIT OF THE 6 LORD , and of judg- ment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin. 9 Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house the 3rd year of King Hoshea’s reign) Date Written - 727 BC/AM 3273

3:3 Judah and Israel’s leaders treated the people of God like a butcher would the carcass of an animal (Isa 3:15). 3:8 According to the Bible, the reason for the fullness of the HOLY SPIRIT was (and still is) for the power to prophesy ( to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin - Acts 2:17-18 ). 3:12 This prophecy ( Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field ) was never fulfilled because Judah (under King Hezekiah’s leadership) humbled herself and heeded Micah’s warning (Jere 26:18-19). 4:5 During the Millennium the devil will be bound and his world held in check ( Rev 20:2 ). Free will (man’s flesh – For all people will walk every one in the name of his god ) will be the only enemy man will face ( Dan 9:24b ).
