things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the 5 meat offering, and the 6 sin offering, and the 7 trespass offering; for the place is holy. P 14 1 When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on 8 other gar- ments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people. P The symmetry of the sanctuary 15 1 Now when HE had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose pros- pect is toward the east, and measured it round about. P 16 1 He measured the east side with the measuring reed, 9 five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about. P 17 1 He measured the north side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about. P 18 1 He measured the south side, five hun- dred reeds, with the measuring reed. P 19 1 He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed. P 20 1 Hemeasured it by the 10 four sides: 11 it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place. P Ezekiel 43 The consecration (vs 7) of the Millennial Temple (Note - This portion of Ezekiel’s prophecy took place in the 33rd year of King Nebuchadnezzar’s reign) Date Written - 572 BC/AM 3428 1 1 Afterward 3 HE brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east: P
5 1 Now the upper chambers were short- er: for the galleries were higher than these, than the lower, and than the middlemost of the building. P 6 1 For they were in 2 three stories, but had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore the building was straitened more than the lowest and the middlemost from the ground. P 7 1 And the wall that was without over against the chambers, toward the utter court on the forepart of the chambers, the length thereof was fifty cubits. P 8 1 For the length of the chambers that were in the utter court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were an hun- dred cubits. P 9 1 And from under these chambers was the entry on the east side, as one goeth into them from the utter court. P 10 1 The chambers were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, over against the separate place, and over against the building. P 11 1 And the way before them was like the appearance of the chambers which were toward the north, as long as they, and as broad as they: and all their goings out were both according to their fashions, and ac- cording to their doors. P 12 1 And according to the doors of the chambers that were toward the south was a door in the head of the way, even the way directly before the wall toward the east, as one entereth into them. P 13 Then said 3 HE unto me, 1 The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they be holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD 4 shall eat the most holy
1. Fulfilled - Rev 20:4 (Israel’s
Restoration) 2. that is, “the chambers rose in terrace form” 3. Ezk 40:3-4 4. Lev 6:16,26 & 24:9 5. Lev 2 6. Lev 4 7. Lev 5 8. Note - The priests were to keep their holy garments in their holy chambers, wearing them when serving in the Temple, and exchanging them for their common clothes ( other garments ) before mixing with the people. The reason behind the regulation: When you work for God, you had better be separated (II Cor 6:14-18). 9. or, “5,500 feet” 10. Note - The overall measurements of the Temple area represented a square ( four sides ) of five hundred reeds (c. one square mile). 11. Isa 26:1 & 60:18
42:20 The walls described by Ezekiel served another purpose, other than the most obvious one of enclosing a space and/or supporting a roof. The walls had a spiritual meaning. They were walls of separation , for the walls separated areas reserved for the people, reserved for the priests, and reserved for the high priest. In this way separation was effected between the more and the less holy ( I Tim 3:2,8 ). 43:1 Having completed the survey of the Temple walls ( Afterward – Ezk 42:7,10,12,15-20), the LORD conducted Ezekiel back to the east gate, the principal entrance to the sanctuary. Nineteen years earlier in 591 BC, the glory of the Lord had departed through this gate ( Ezk 10:4 ). Now, at the beginning of the future Millennium, the glory of the Lord would return (vs 4). NOTE – The only difference between the theophany departing the Temple (Ezk 10:4) and reentering it (Ezk 43:4) appears to be the absence of the “cloud” in which the glory of the Lord appeared (Exo 40:34-35, I Ki 8:10-11) and then departed (Ezk 10:3-4). During the Millennium the brilliant manifestations of the Godhead ( and the earth shined with his glory – vs 2) will be “less cloudy” and much clearer, as we will see God “better” than we ever have before.
