11 And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army, 12 Then Jeremiah went forth out of Je- rusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, 36:32 You can reduce to ashes a scroll, but you cannot remove the Scriptures ( Then took Jeremiah another roll ). They are forever settled (Psa 119:89 and Mt 24:35). 37:9 The Bible speaks plainly: mankind can be deceived, therefore, God warns us to beware of ten areas of deception: 1. Men and their movements (Mk 13:5, Eph 5:6 and Jere 37:9 ) The people of God were placing their trust in men and their movements (Egypt). Jeremiah warned them about their misguided trust. As men, we must be careful not to live for honors, nor long to be lionized (Job 32:21-22). Men who live for honors and long to be lionized cause other men to make heroes out of men and their movements; and that always leads to error in judgment (Gal 2:11-14). We are admonished never to make men our heroes; only the truth they live. Satan would love nothing more than for men to elevate other men ( Job 32:21 ). THE ADAGE IS TRUE: The best of men are at best still men (Rom 12:3, I Cor 4:6, II Cor 3:5 & 12:7, Gal 6:3) 2. Alcohol ( Prov 20:1 & 23:29-35 & 31:4-5) The warning in the Bible is against drinking, not drunkenness ( Prov 23:31 ).

3. Bad company ( I Cor 15:33 ) 4. Improper sowing ( Gal 6:7 ) 5. Temptation (Jms 1:13-17 & footnote on Mt 26:41 )

6. Money (Mt 13:22 & footnote on Acts 3:6 ) 7. Satan (Rev 12:9 & footnote on II Cor 2:11 ) 8. Pride ( I Ki 21:29 and Prov 6:17 ) 9. Things future (II Thess 2:1-3) We are to know the future so well that no one can fool us. THE ADAGE IS TRUE: What we believe about tomorrow will affect how we behave today 10. Self-deception ( Gal 6:3 )
