the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes. The promise of a new world to come in eternity (Fulfilled - Rev 21:1) 17 For, behold, 1 I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. P The promise of Israel’s restoration (Fulfilled - Rev 20:4) 18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, 2 I create Jerusalemarejoicing, andherpeoplea joy. P 19 2 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: 3 and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. P 20 2 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. P 21 2 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, andeat the fruitof them. P 22 2 They shall not build, and another in- habit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. P 23 2 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the

seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. P 24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, 2 I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. P 25 2 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. 4 Theyshall nothurtnordestroy inall my holymountain, saith the LORD. P Isaiah 66 The magnitude and immensity of God Date Written - c. 700 BC/AM 3300 1 Thus saith the LORD, 5 The heaven is my throne, 6 and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? 2 5 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a 7 contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. The awful sin of hypocrisy 3 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, 8 they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

65:17 This word ( create ) is the Hebrew word bah-rah and has a twofold meaning: * The instant, miraculous creation of something which had no previous existence in any form whatsoever ( Gen 1:1 d ) * The act of renovating something already in existence (like our hearts - Psa 51:10, or the heavens and the earth - Isa 65:17, II Pet 3:10 and Rev 20:11 b & 21:1-5) Here in Isaiah 65:17 the word “ create ” is referring to the act of renovating something already in existence . 65:20a There are three future ( There shall be ) truths concerning the Millennium that are taught within this verse: * Life during the Millennium will return to pre-Flood days when men lived very long lives ( There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days ). * During the Millennium those who die at a hundred will be considered a mere child ( for the child shall die an hundred years old ) * During the Millennium sin will still be prevelent ( but the sinner being an hundred years old ), as well as punished ( shall be accursed ) 65:20b Whereas verse 17 deals with the eternal state, verses 18-25 deal with the millennial kingdom. “A child dying” ( for the child shall die ) is not an experience of the eternal state, but of the millennial state. 65:22 The millennial kingdom will be characterized by capitalism ( mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands ), not socialism ( They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat ). 66:1 God questions His people concerning illogical thinking and reminds them that the building (Solomon’s Temple) they have furnished for Him does in no way confine Him or restrict His activity. In other words, no one can “box up” God and package Him as if He were something to be owned. No one owns the exclusive rights to God, not even Israel. 66:2a THE ADAGE IS TRUE: Don’t fear brokenness ( but to this man will I look ) ; like the egg, its true worth lies within 66:2b God is looking for the fellowship of “humble and broken” ( contrite spirit ) people, who tremble at His Word (give Him the last say in their life –vs 5). God wants to use us; however, He can’t use us until we are broken (Acts 9:15-16). THE ADAGE IS TRUE: God can’t use us until He knows what He has to use 66:3 The sacrifices of a religious person mean absolutely nothing to God ( He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man - Gen 4:1-5 and I Sam 15: 13- 22 ). 66:5 God repeats Himself here ( ye that tremble at his word – see vs 2) for two reasons: (1) Repetition is the key to learning ( I Cor 2:13 ); and (2) Repetition is always for the sake of emphasis . Thus, those who desire to understand the importance of a passage must focus upon the repetition of truth within that passage.
