54:9 This phrase ( the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth ) is a reference to the Noahic Flood (Gen 6-8), thus Isaiah believed the first eleven chapters of Genesis to be true. In fact, the men God used to pen the Bible all believed the first eleven chapters of Genesis to be true: 1. Job , the oldest book in the Bible, referred to creation (Job 26:7,13), Adam and Eve (Job 31:33), and the Flood (Job 22:15-16 & 26:12). 2. Moses wrote Genesis through Deuteronomy, thus he gave us the first eleven chapters of Genesis, and even referred to the Tower of Babel (Gen 11) in Deuteronomy 32:8. 3. Joshua referred to the Flood (Josh 24:2-3,14-15). 4. The author of I Chronicles referred to Adam and his descendants (I Chro 1:1-3), and to Noah (I Chro 1:4). 5. King David referred to the Flood (Psa 29:10). 6. King Hezekiah referred to the Flood (Psa 66:6). 7. One of Asaph’s descendants referred to the Flood (Psa 74:15). 8. Isaiah referred to Noah and the Flood (Isa 54:9). 9. Ezekiel referred to Noah (Ezk 14:14,20). 10. CHRIST referred to creation and Adam and Eve (Mt 19:4), Abel (Mt 23:35 and Lk 11:51), and Noah and the Flood (Mt 24:38- 39 and Lk 17:26-27). 11. Matthew referred to creation and Adam and Eve (Mt 19:4), Abel (Mt 23:35), and Noah and the Flood (Mt 24:38-39). 12. Luke referred to Adam and Seth (Lk 3:38), Abel (Lk 11:51), Enoch (Lk 3:37), and Noah and the Flood (Lk 17:26-27). 13. John referred to Cain (I Jn 3:12). 14. Paul referred to the six days of creation (II Cor 4:6), Adam and Eve (Rom 5:14 and I Cor 6:16 & 11:7-9,12 & 14:34 & 15:21- 22,45-49, II Cor 11:3, Eph 5:31 and I Tim 2:13-14). 15. The author of Hebrews referred to the six days of creation (Heb 4:4 & 11:3), Cain and Abel (Heb 11:4 & 12:24), Enoch (Heb 11:5), and Noah and the Flood (Heb 11:7). 16. Peter referred to Noah and the Flood (I Pet 3:20-21 and II Pet 2:5 & 3:5-6), and to the angels that sinned (II Pet 2:4). 17. Jude referred to Adam and Eve (Jude 14), Cain and Abel (Jude 11), and Enoch (Jude 14). NOTE – Interestingly enough, the biggest contributors to the penning of the Bible: Job, Moses, Joshua, David (Psalms), Isaiah, Ezekiel, Matthew, Luke, John, Paul, and Peter, all believed the first eleven chapters of Genesis to be true. In fact, there are only two NT writers that did not to refer to the first eleven chapters of Genesis: Mark and James. And yet James referred to the book of Job (Jms 5:11), who referred to creation (Job 26:7,13), Adam and Eve (Job 31:33), and the Flood (Job 22:15-16 & 26:12), and Mark referred to both Moses (Mk 1:44 & 7:10 & 9:4,5 & 10:3-5 & 12:19,26), who gave us the first eleven chapters of Genesis, and Isaiah (Mk 1:3 & 7:6), who referred to Noah and the Flood here in Isaiah 54:9. Seeing that the overwhelming majority of Bible contributors believed that the first eleven chapters of Genesis were true, the Framework View theory of creation ( Gen 1:1b ), which believes Genesis 1-2 is to be understood figuratively and not literally, must be false.
