law; 9 fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings. 8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: 4 but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation. P Isaiah calls on the Lord to bring about a “second exodus,” as the nation He had led out of Egypt would now be led out of Babylon 9 4 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not 10 it that hath cut 11 Rahab, and wounded the 11 dragon? P 10 Art thou not 10 it which hath 12 dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the 13 ransomed to pass over? The promise to bring Israel back to Jerusalem (Fulfilled - Ezra 1:1-3 - 536 BC) 11 14 Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with sing ing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; 15 and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. P 12 I , even I , am HE 14 that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of aman that shall die, andof the sonofman which shall be made 16 as grass; P 13 And forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?

Isaiah 51 The promise of Israel’s restoration (Fulfilled - Rev 20:4) Date Written - c. 700 BC/AM 3300
1 Hearken to ME , ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LO R D [ TR INI TY ] : look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. 2 Look unto Abraham 1 your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for 2 I called him alone, and blessed him, 3 and increased him. 3 4 For the LO R D [ TR INI TY ] shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like 5 Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. P 4 Hearken unto ME , my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: 6 for a law shall proceed from me, 4 and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people. P 5 4 My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; 7 the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust. P The promise to destroy this world and its system (Fulfilled - Rev 20:11) 6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: 8 for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: 4 but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. PP 7 Hearken unto ME , ye that know righ- teousness, the people in whose heart is my
14 The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail. 15 But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The 51:1a Just as God had blessed Abraham and promised him that his seed would become a great nation (Gen 12:1-3), so He would “comfort” Israel, if only they would listen ( Hearken to me ). 51:1b The FATHER here ( ME ) is speaking for the entire Triune Godhead ( Isa 48:14 ). As is so often the case, one member of the Triune Godhead will make reference to one or the other persons within the Trinity ( Gen 9:8,16 & 16:7,11 & 18:1,13-14 & 21:12,17 & 22:1,12 & 32:24,28 & 35:1 and Acts 10:3-4 ), or even to both ( Gen 3:22 & 11:6-7 , Isa 6:8 and 48:16 ). NOTE – Although the word “trinity” does not appear in Scripture, the word “Godhead” does ( Rom 1:20a , Acts 17:29 and Colo 2:9), and the idea and doctrine are its foundation and are evident throughout the entire Scriptures ( Gen 1:26a & 3:22 & 11:7, Deut 6:4 , Isa 6:8 & 48:16, Ezk 3:24 and Mt 28:19c ). 51:1c God carved (whence ye are hewn) the nation of Israel out of a single couple (vs 2 and Gen 17:17): an old man, and an old woman beyond the age of childbearing (Heb 11:11), eventually jerking their descendants out of the pit of bondage in Egypt. 51:5 Observe:There is no salvationwithout righteousness. You cannot have one without the other (vs 5-8). Yet who’s righteousness is it that brings to us salvation? It cannot be our righteousness because we don’t have any (Eccl 7:20, Isa 64:6 and Rom 3:10,20- 28 & 10:1-4). Salvation is attained via God’s righteousness ( CHRIST – Gen 3:21, Isa 61:10, Zech 3:1-4 and Mt 22:11), not our religiosity (Rom 4:1-6 and Gal 2:16 & 3:10-13). 51:6 We need not wait till history’s end to experience God’s presence ( Lift up your eyes to the heavens ).
