The Spiritual Song - Exploring Prophetic Worship by Mike Herron

The sound of ocean waves or the crashing of a waterfall fills up every musical note and overtone that the human ear can perceive. That is why you can almost hear ‘voices’ in the waves and waterfalls. Our corporate spiritual song is drenched by the participation of the Holy Spirit. There is no singing out of tune in this expression of praise because every vibration is represented and transformed into a symphony of love before God. The adjective ‘mighty’ ocean waves again punctuates the fact that this expression can at times be extremely vibrant and loud yet the ocean can equally be calm with small, lapping waves. The streams of little waterfalls sing to us as well. Those following the Lamb interpret the sound of the mighty ocean waves as the singing and playing of harps. The sound of the ‘mighty ocean waves’ last appears at the wedding feast of the Lamb and his bride. ‘Then I heard again what sounded li ke the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves… Let us be glad and rejoice…For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself.’ (Rev 19:6, 7)  The corporate spiritual song is at times very loud!  In involves instruments play intensely  The sound is all consuming like the sound of many waters  It ebbs and flows between loud and soft  It is accompanied by the chords of the harp
