you are praising and thanking God under the perfect inspiration of the Holy Spirit, communicating mysteries in unknown languages that will come out in known languages as you sing the prophetic song. Gordon Fee says of t his passage: ‘...some of the singing might best be called ‘a kind of charismatic hymnody,’ in which spontaneous hymns of praise were offered to God in the congregation, although some may have been known before hand. The present passage, as well as v. 26, indicates that some of this kind of singing was ‘solo.’ 28 ‘But if all of you are prophesying, (singing the prophetic song) and unbelievers or people who don’t understa nd these things come into your meeting, they will be convicted of sin and judged by what you say. As they listen, their secret thoughts will be exposed, and thy will fall to their knees and wo rship God, declaring, ‘God is t ruly here among you.’’(14:24,25) ‘Here is another evidence that the ‘Spirit’ knows all things –not only the ‘depths of God’ (1 Cor 2: 11) and the groanings of the believer’s heart (Rom 8:26) , but also the deep recesses of the hearts of those who do not believe.’ 29 The prophetic ministry reaches the heart of the lost and leads them with melodies and words of grace to the experience of salvation. This passage also lets us understand that there might well be believers who are ‘uninitiated’ into the charismata of the Holy
