I could see the cliff at the far end of the ancient city that was the scene of an attempt by the inhabitants to murder Jesus for claiming to be the Messiah in Luke 4:14-30. Then I heard in my spirit these words, ‘don’t let them throw my Holy Spirit ove r the cliff!’ This addit ional thought came to me. ‘In Jesus’ day, they wa nted God the Father but they didn’t want God the Son. Today, the church wants Jesus but they don’t always want the Holy Spirit.’ We all want Jesus to be the Lord of our lives and the church, but we must also accept the authority, role and the gifts of the Holy Spirit as well. My prayer in writing this book is that we will make room for the Holy Spirit’s voice . Only then can He direct His people into the plans and purposes that God the Father and God the Son have for them.
