The Spiritual Song - Exploring Prophetic Worship by Mike Herron
EPILOGUE
Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the L ORD your God;
For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you — The former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. (Joel 2:23, NKJV) T he church’s experience of the Spiritual Song in the past was like the ‘former (spring) rain.’ This promise from the Prophet Joel says that the ‘former and latter rain/spring and autumnal rains’ will be concentrated together in the last days. We can expect what happened in the past to be magnified many times in the moving of Holy Spirit inspired worship of the church today. It will be better understood, better implemented with greater results than ever before. In November of 2013 my wife and I traveled to Israel to speak at a worship conference in Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. We stayed in a hotel on the side of the mountain that overlooked the ancient city. I woke up in the middle of the first night and began to pray as to what I would say the following day. The moon was in quarter and the stars were shining brightly over the very streets when Jesus walked and played in his youth. I felt the voice of the Lord say in my heart; ‘It didn’t go so w ell for me last time I was here.’ That thought startled me.
