The battle for the heavens has been won. Jesus has been given

the highest place in the highest heaven. And we have been

included in that exaltation. Tremendous authority has been

given to the church to manifest God’s kingdom on earth, as it is

in heaven, through our prayers and bold faith.

How are we to act out that faith?

In Matthew 18:18 Jesus gives the church the authority to “bind

and loose.”

The phrase “binding and loosing” actually has the connotation

of “prohibit” and “allow.” Some believers have misunderstood

this to think that Jesus was giving the church the power to

determine what on earth will be allowed or prohibited. That is

incorrect.

Let ’s look more closely at these verses. In fact, the idea of

prohibiting and allowing is mentioned twice in the book of

Matthew.
