hard work, or good moral values. This is the idea behind a

spiritual inheritance.

Paul says in Romans 8:17:

Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.

We receive the same inheritance as Jesus does from God the

Father. It does not seem right that we should receive the same

inheritance that Jesus will receive, but there it is. We are God’s

children by the spirit of adoption (Rom. 8:15) and God holds

nothing back from us as His kids. We have the same rights and

blessings as Jesus does. And that inheritance began the day

we were saved.

Paul says that the parent stores up for the child and not the

child for the parent (2 Cor.1 2:14). Fatherhood, hopefully,

brings a life of maturity and learning that can be passed on to

our children. A great picture of such a spiritual father is seen in

Paul the apostle for his spiritual son Timothy.
