The family name of Johnson literally means “son of John.”

When we come from a good and honorable family in a

community we inherit the status and reputation belonging that

family.

When we are born into the family of God one of our natural

desires is to learn about our heavenly father. Like in the natural

family we look at the person who led us to faith in Christ Jesus.

Are they Baptist, then most likely so are we. Are they

evangelistic, then so are we. Do they pray standing up?

Kneeling? We do likewise. How we see God and what we think

He expects from us usually comes from our fathers in the Lord.

This means that it is important how spiritual parents treat us,

the value they give us, and the expectations and

encouragements they communicate to us. If our spiritual

parenting is good there is a healthy transition of building our

understanding of God from that person.

2. The father gives an Inheritance .

An inheritance is not something you earn, but is a gift from the

life and love of your parents. When my parents and my wife’s

parents passed away we received an inheritance that allowed

us to send our children to college. We did not have to raise the

money; it was a legacy of the hard work and life of our parents.
