It is the discipline of abiding in the presence of God and the

understanding of scripture and the covering of other believers

where the New Testament pr ophet gains God’s counsel. In

abiding or continuing before the Lord the prophet discovers his

own heart’s motives and discovers the heart of God as the Holy

Spirit reveals this. It is the prophetic messenger who should be

the first to hear and be renewed in his or her thinking as God

gives them His mind (Rom. 12:2).

Fourth : Last and most important is that the key to New

Testament prophecy is God’s love. We are not Old Testament

prophets speaking from the Law; we speak from the cross. Paul

said that we must speak the truth in love (Eph. 4:15). One of
