structure but will fit the culture and spiritual environment it is in.

Such training will need four essential characteristics.

First : There must be a love for and submission to the

scriptures. No higher authority is found that the “logos” – the

written word of God that has come down to us. We measure all

prophetic words by the scriptures.

Second : Scripture is clear that we learn the prophetic ministry

better in committed groups. Samuel called his groups of

prophetic students “the company of the prophets” (2 Kings 2:1

7; 6:1;9:1). This was the insight that the prophet Samuel arrived

at. It is important that in the early days of training that believers

learn to listen and speak in an atmosphere of biblical discipline

and application of using the prophetic gift. There must also be

permission to learn through trial and error in a protected and

accountable setting.

Paul continued this group setting for prophetic training when
