The Biblical Foundation for Transformation

It is always good to lay out a biblical position for a strategy that

we are challenging God’s people to implement in spreading the

gospel. Let’s begin doing that now.

From the very beginning, God told Abraham that through him

He would produce a godly nation and through that spiritual

nation all nations of the earth would be blessed (Gen.

18:18). In Gen. 35:11 the Lord again tells Abraham “ a nation

and a company of nations shall come from you, kings shall

come forth from you.” Clearly, nations have always been God’s

ultimate target.

As I have mentioned, after the time of the patriarchs came the

Old Testament prophets of Israel who began to speak of the

final “house of God” (the end time temple), into which the

nations of the earth would be gathered (Isa. 2:2; 40:5; Hag. 2:6

9). We have already discussed this at length, but I want to again

highlight the idea that all nations will be drawn to the house of

God.

The prophet Hab akkuk declared that the “knowledge of the

glory of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the

sea” (Hab. 2:14). This includes cities and nations. This
