Angel Two

The message of the second angel announces the collapse of

the corrupt commercial system on earth. It is described as

“Babylon,” which for a Jew would evoke the concepts of

enslavement and sin. In John’s day this term had come to mean

a selfish, ungodly way of thinking and living (Rev. 18).

Angel two is most likely referring to a great city that those

around the world would know about at that time. This city will

be a spiritual Babylon — a center of selfish and evil ways of

living and gaining wealth. For a greater description of this evil

city, read Revelation 17. The angel foretells the great upheaval

and destruction soon to fall on this city and its evil worldwide

economic empire.

The message is a clear call for all to separate themselves from

this ungodl y way of living, especially God’s people (Rev. 18:4.)

Angel Three

The third angel warns against worshipping the image of the

beast, or receiving the mark of the beast – actions which will

invoke the torments of hell (Rev. 18:9-10).
