we find the dramatic fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy of the gospel

reaching every nation (Matt. 24:14). Not even Antichrist will be

able to stop it.

Such suffering and injustice may seem very wrong. It is natural

for us to want God to bring deliverance in times of persecution.

But as His servants, we must embrace the fact that He did not

spare His only begotten Son, who suffered an unjust death

(Rom. 8:32). Why then would we feel He should not spend our

lives for the sake of the gospel?

Yet, God will remember every sacrifice we make for His

Kingdom (Heb. 6:10). Scripture declares, “precious in the sight

of the Lord is the death of His saints” (Ps. 116:15).

God loves us deeply and does not spend our lives carelessly.

In reviewing Hebrews 11, which is often called “the faith

chapter,” we see that God decides what will glorify His name

most¯ causing many to be saved -- our deliverance, or our

sacrifice (Heb. 11:32-38). If God does decide to allow us to

enter times of suffering for His name’s sake, He will give us the

strength to face it. Ultimately our attitude must reflect what Paul

wrote –

My deep desire and hope is that I shall never fail in my duty, but that at all times, and especially right now, I shall be full of courage, so that with my
