destructive fire, but rather a cleansing fire. We must allow God

to purify us, and school us in the disciplines to face such times.

The writer of Hebrews declares that God will allow shakings

to go on until only that which cannot be shaken remains

(Heb. 12:27). Poorly disciplined believers will not stand in the

day of trouble.

How Can You Know You Are Unshakable?

Jesus provided us with a litmus test in Matthew, illustrating what

it takes to withstand shaking.

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. (Matt. 7:7:24-27, emphasis added )

If we have practiced the disciplines the Lord requires, we will

weather life’s tests. We will exemplify confidence that God’s

principles work (Ps. 15:5). We will be graduates of His

schooling — imbuied with knowledge that the world lacks.
