The Life of Christ
However, consider the possibility that Jesus came in His kingdom on the Day of Pentecost:
• Mark’s account reads: And He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power” (Mk. 9:1).
• Regarding the upcoming Day of Pentecost, Jesus said in Luke 24:49: “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
• 1Cor. 4:20 says, “For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.”

Mt. 17:1 And six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother and brought them up to a high mountain by themselves.
Mk. 9:2 also says this happened six days later.
• However, Lk. 9:28 says, "some eight days after these sayings,” which sounds more like an estimate than a specific number.
• Matthew and Mark both agree with the “six days” account.
• These numbers present a prophetic picture of six thousand years after the fall of Adam, bringing us to the second coming of Christ.
• 2 Pet. 3:8 refers to “a day with the Lord as a thousand years.”
Mt. Hermon, near Caesarea, has been suggested as the mountain where the transfiguration occurred.
• This mountain is about 10,000 feet, the highest peak in all Israel, requiring an all-day climb.
• Luke 9:37 says, "the next day they came down the mountain.”
Major spiritual revelations often occur upon mountaintops.
Moses received the Law on Mt. Sinai.
•
• Elijah ascended Mt. Horeb (same as Mt. Sinai) and heard from God.
• Upon Mt. Moriah Abraham sacrificed his son.
Mt. 17:2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light.
His face shone as the sun.
• Rev. 1:16 describes Jesus' heavenly visage as shining as the sun.
• Verse 2 described Him transfigured, which is the Greek word “metamorphous,” the word commonly used to describe the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly.
