And that is saying a lot as our ministry had ministered on Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard for years, had street preached and passed out tracts at Mardi Gras in New Orleans and witnessed for Jesus in some out of this world environments. Nothing compared to Mallory Square. At the end of the pier, directly to my left was Astral Lady, reading tarot cards and fortunes. Beside her was a sword swallower who would light his sword blade on fire and swallow it to the raucous applause of the crowd. A contortionist laying out on a mat was next to them, twisting and turning his body into pretzel-like poses that made me think he must be made of rubber. And of course, there was a snake charmer that added even more weirdness to the congregation. I had my guitar slung over my shoulder and in the midst of this insane group of performers, was ready to sing praise and worship and lift up high the Name of Jesus. Even though the magnificent sunset was nearing, you could cut the spiritual darkness on the pier at Mallory Square with a knife. I backed up to the edge of the pier with the ocean water just a couple of feet from me. We stood an eight foot wooden cross beside me to signify we were representing Jesus. We began to sing and lift up Jesus.
I perceived right away a praise and worship service
on Mallory Square Pier had never happened before.
I began to strum my guitar as strong and loud as I could. The Daystar Youth and other members of our team sang along with me as we put our hearts into the songs we were singing. All around us were Tarot card
