As modern-day disciples, street parties like the Mardi Gras and the Fantasy Festival allowed us to street preach to thousands of unsaved people each day.

Of course, I said to Denny, “Count me in… let’s go

to the Fantasy Festival and beat up on the devil.”

Denny told me that he and Mel Rolls, Youth Pastor of Daystar at Trinity Assembly of God in Lake Worth, Florida were going to fly down to Key West on a very small plane and spy out the land and set up the outreach to the Fantasy Festival coming up on Halloween weekend. I later heard that flight on the four-seater plane was quite an experience in itself. I counted my blessings I had declined to join them on that eventful flight. But God was up to something powerful, and He used Denny and Mel to lay the groundwork for the upcoming Fantasy Festival street outreach. I didn’t know it then, but this outreach was going to be one of the most epic outreaches and moves of God we had experienced in our lives and ministries before then. As I prepared to leave Los Angeles to fly to South Florida, I studied a little bit about Key West and this crazy Fantasy Festival. Little did I know that Key West Florida is the Southernmost point in the USA. Key West is actually closer to Cuba than it is to Miami. And there is an amazing spirit of independence, lawlessness, and debauchery in Key West. I discovered The Keys was a place for “dreamers and schemers.”
