Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

We saw thousands of cars that had been crushed and stacked on top of each other in cleanup efforts. These were signs of the ferociousness of the earthquake and storm that had decimated this area. Looking at this wreckage, we could only imagine the toll in human life and suffering that had taken place. After a couple of days ministering in this area, we journeyed on to Sendai. We had finally made it to the epicenter of the earthquake and tsunami that had destroyed so many homes and lives in Japan. We drove around Sendai and went so many places where beautiful homes had previously stood, but now were just ghost towns. We saw many Japanese makeshift memorial sights where those who survived the earthquake and tsunami were memorializing the ones who were lost. We spent a good part of our day ministering alongside a Japanese search and rescue team whose members were still in search and rescue mode, holding out hope people who were trapped in the rubble might still be found alive. That night, we checked in to a quaint, Japanese style hotel on the outskirts of Sendai. The cultural setting in the hotel was so peaceful and serene. Brother Bill, Brian, Pastor Steve, Kazu and I gathered in the lobby of the hotel for some fellowship time together. I played guitar and we all sang. This was such a refreshing time following the few days of ministry we had just finished. As I was singing, I noticed Pastor Steve and Brother Bill drift over to the desk in the lobby where the husband-and-wife owners of the hotel were quietly working.
