Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

As I played my guitar and sang about Jesus, there was a sea of people gathered in front of me, many holding umbrellas to shield them from the searing heat, from the tropical sun that was bearing down. For as far as I could see, it looked like colored dots because of the umbrellas. The backdrop was hundreds of once beautiful palm trees, now stripped and bowed down, a stark reminder of the horrendous typhoon that had recently torn through the area. We were ministering in Tacloban, the epicenter of Typhoon Haiyan. Brother Bill Henderson, Pastor Kelly, Garth, Brian and Roy took turns bringing a word of encouragement to the people from the Lord. Everyone was so appreciative because we were offering them hope in Jesus during the darkest days of their lives. Bishop Eddie, Pastor Gerson and the King Jesus Christian Fellowship team handed out bags of rice and food staples to the families who were there desperately needing help and hope. Also, they gave out many toys to the children who had come with their parents. At the end of our outreach, we preached and gave invitation for people to receive Jesus and the crowd came forward in droves to be prayed for and to receive Jesus as Lord. It is always amazing to see people around the world who have survived a catastrophic event such as a typhoon, earthquake, or tornado, realize like never before how fragile life is and how it can be lost in the blink of an eye. In times like these, minds and hearts are open to receive eternal life in Jesus.

As the evening crept up on us, we dismantled our tent city on the basketball court and headed to a nearby
