Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

was afraid to go back in the home and especially afraid to go to sleep.

Pastor Kelly prayed for the young girl and then he explained the plan of salvation to the family, which included Joan’s mom, her dad, her sister, and her niece. As Pastor Kelly finished explaining the Gospel, he asked them who would want to pray and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. The entire family raised their hands for salvation, so Pastor Kelly led them in a prayer to make Jesus Lord of their lives. We could see the looks of fear and uncertainty leave their faces replaced with a new joy in the Lord. Then Joan said something to us I will never forget. She was a new Christian and more than anything else in her life, she longed for her entire family to know Jesus as Lord in the same way she had come to know Him. Amid her smiles and tears of joy, she said something so powerful to us, “You are the laborers I have been praying for!” Joan had been doing as Scripture directs; “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the Harvest, that He would send forth laborers into His harvest…” We were the laborers she had been praying for. If our ministry team had come all the way from America to the Philippines just for this precious family to know Jesus, that would have been enough, But, God had great plans ahead for us. Around noon, Bishop Eddie Deita, Pastor Gerson and our team climbed up on a flatbed trailer that had been parked in the open field at the Catholic church in Tacloban and we began to sing and preach about Jesus.
