was burning up… no fan or air-conditioner. I couldn’t concentrate during my prayer time. I had to get out of the apartment. I drove down near Griffith Park where Dot and I had been wanting to start going for walks. I needed to drop a few pounds and get healthier. Since most of our walks start tomorrow , I decided I would start today. I plotted out a one mile walk to begin with. I began talking to the Lord while I was walking. First, I asked forgiveness for my stinkin’ attitude. I told Him how Dot and I desire to reach out even more to people in Hollywood with His love… to help those whom society has seemingly discarded and forgotten. The time with the Lord was great. For the moment, at least, my attitude was healed. After being in the heat, I needed some refreshment. I went into the Thrifty Drugstore in Hollywood to buy a bottle of water, a box of Honey Maid graham crackers and a 12-pack of Dr. Pepper they had on sale. (You can see why I need exercise.)

As I waited impatiently in the checkout line, Jesus

did a wonderful thing. He captured my attention.

Checking out just ahead of me was a petite elderly woman. She had long flowing silver hair and spoke in broken English. I watched her hand the cashier a bottle of shampoo and with the help of another customer, asked how much it cost. She then handed the cashier a bottle of juice and with the same customer’s help, asked how much the two of them cost together.

Finally, she handed the cashier a very pretty bar of green facial soap, wrapped in clear plastic. I got the
