Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

One day our driver, Jamela, the owner of Benefit Travel in Johannesburg, told us he wanted to share something on his heart with us. He had read a newspaper article about a shantytown in Munsieville. The people living in the shacks of Munsieville were predominantly white people of Dutch descent. They were living in deplorable conditions. They were hungry, they were dirty, and they had no hope. Jamela wanted us to go there and do an outreach the next time we brought a team. How could we say no to the opportunity to bring Jesus to that settlement of hurting people? William and Jamela made a trip to Munsieville to find out who the person in charge is. They met the man and asked for permission for us to come minister to his people. The man told William we could come, but they have many needs. It was obvious that he was saying we could come as long as we brought things to his community. We would have brought things even if he hadn’t let us know it was expected of us. We were so happy to bring so many clothes to them along with diapers and other supplies. There are a lot of infants and children in Munsieville. We showed up with a trailer packed with supplies and the team brought gifts to hand out to the children. We quickly realized that what we brought was not enough. My heart was shattered, and I found myself fighting back tears and the ugly cry once again. A lady came to me and asked for prayer. Her skin was very withered and it was obvious that she had lead a very hard life. Looking back, I saw her as an old woman, but I realize I must be much older than she is.
