Pastor Rick jumped on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and sped directly to the area that later would be known throughout the world as Ground Zero . Pastor Rick was always faithful to run to the chaos. He was the first clergyman on the scene and immediately began to render aid and comfort to those in panic and shock at what was happening to the nerve center of their beloved New York City. The boys, Jeremy, Jonathan, and Jamie quickly joined their Dad the next day and began to comfort so many people who were practically wandering the streets of New York City, dazed and confused, fearful of what was happening around them. People were terrified. By the next day, September 12 th , Pastor Rick Del Rio, Jeremy Del Rio and Pastor Marc Rivera founded the Ground Zero Clergy Task Force . They were joined by many NYC spiritual leaders from all denominations, where they served and led a worldwide effort to bring the grace of God to The City. I told Pastor Rick I would be coming to New York City within a few days to join him, Abounding Grace Church and the Ground Zero Task Force to take Jesus to the streets there. He thanked me for coming to help and told me I was more than welcome to throw a sleeping bag down on the floor of Abounding Grace Church and help lead street ministry teams down to Ground Zero. Within a few days, I boarded a Jet Blue flight from Long Beach, CA to New York’s JFK Airport. After landing late at night, I grabbed my backpack and guitar, and I headed outside where I flagged down a livery car driver and directed him to take me into The City . I was not prepared for what I was about to experience.
