Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

It was especially moving for Dot and me to watch Granny taking in the destruction and lives lost, as we could tell she was thinking of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the world at war soon after. She had lived through these dark days in our history. The next day, I called Pastors Walt and JoAnn Landers who pastored Tree of Life Church in San Angelo, Texas. (Their church is now called TLC - The Life Church .) Pastor Walt was the first minister that had brought Dot and me to San Angelo to minister back in 1988. He worked at a local church and taught evangelism. Walt had invited me to speak at a graduation banquet for the evangelism students. This led to many years of ministry for Dot and me in San Angelo, as many pastors and leaders had us come and minister. We made so many great lifelong friends there. JoAnn answered my phone call that day, just one day after the 9/11 attacks, and I will never forget her first words on the phone. “Please tell me you and Dot are in Texas!” I laughed a little and assured her Dot and I were in Texas already, a few days prior to the 3-day Tree of Life Church conference they had invited me to speak at. Other ministers from several other parts of the nation were scheduled speakers also, but most of them were not able to fly in as the FAA still had not lifted its nationwide mandate grounding all aviation flights. We assured them we would be in San Angelo in a day or two to begin the great conference they were hosting. The conference at Tree of Life Church was amazing, each minister preaching of the urgency of seeking God to move upon our nation.
